The FWGSDC is not a German Shepherd rescue organization. Please visit our Links page for GSD rescue info.
The Fort Worth German Shepherd Dog Club (FWGSDC) is an American Kennel Club (AKC) breed club chartered in 1954 under the umbrella of the German Shepherd Dog Club of America (GSDCA). Our club is made up of a diverse group of people active in conformation, obedience, nosework, therapy, agility, IPO, and many others who simply love the German Shepherd Dog. We are not a training club, however we do hold AKC sanctioned shows each year, help members get their Canine Good Citizen certifications, and offer training events throughout the year.
If you are encountering a problem with your dog, chances are good that one of us has experience with that very thing. Whether it's a health or behavioral issue, a training question, or if you just want to learn more about dog sports that can help keep your German Shepherd Dog in top condition mentally and physically, feel free to get in touch.
The German Shepherd Dog is an active dog of high intelligence, born to work, and requiring regular mental and physical exercise. GSDs are protective by nature, which is why they make excellent police and guard dogs, so proper training is very important. People without the time or dedication to commit to working with their German Shepherd Dog should consider a different breed. Those willing to devote the time and energy necessary are rewarded with a trustworthy, loving and loyal companion.
